After arriving in Kathmandu and getting a full night’s sleep, not much recovery from jet lag was needed, as we walked roughly 8 miles through the city on Thursday. Along the way, we were able to stop at the local shops, and see some of the great sites of the city. We ate lunch on the top of a building with a great view of the Taleju Temple, which is one of the most important Hindu sites in Nepal. We also hiked up 365 steps, dodging monkeys, to reach the Swayambhunath temple (monkey temple), which is one of the most important Buddhist stupas in Nepal. This climb allowed us to get a close up view of the craftsmanship of the temple, and a great view of the whole city of Kathmandu. Tomorrow, we will fly to Pokhara, Nepal, which is where the Green Pastures Hospital is located. Our team is beyond excited to be begin talking and working with the people there. We ask for prayers for safety tomorrow in our trip, and we ask for prayers for guidance over the next two weeks spent at the hospital!
